I winged this skirt but it came out pretty cute! I've followed alot of "recipes" for a diy elastic high waisted skirt in the past. It's fun and definitely a beginner project if youre interested. I know there are a thousand recipes on fashion blogs but I'm going to do my own anyway! I'll probably get to do some sewing tomorrow so hopefully I'll have something up soon! Stay tuned!

This past weekend the annoying ans destructive Irene graced us with her presnece. Luckily nothing too bad happened to my home or street in Red Bank but most of my family/friends in the area are STILL out of power. I also had to wake up at 4am today to get a super early train into the city because they were running all crapily. I always heard about the calm after the storm but I never really appreciated it until yesterday. Work at bloomies was canceled so Erin, Ashley, and I grabbed brunch in Asbury. Afterwords Erin and I walked around the boardwalk to see if there was much damage. Nothing looked too bad and it turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL day so we took some photos and walked around. We took an out of the way walk back to the car and ended up being laughed at for ten minutes by an old man who said we were having a bad hair day. Figures. Isn't Jersey the greatest?!

Mike Yelskiy is one of my favorite Russians. He came to Queens with me to shoot Linda in these dresses. He is just starting his photography career and is amazing at it! This is my Mad Men dress. The vintage type writer + the dress + Linder is just adorrrrable. I drafted this Peter Pan collar thanks to Megan Nielsen
She is really really sweet and a super talented designer. She is going to put a banner on her page each month to expose some independent designers and I get the month of December! Everyone check out these two talented people and maybe buy this dress on etsy?

Linda and I were introduced about 5 years ago. She was living in Michigan at the time and we kept in touch sending each other music and such. She recently moved to NYC with her boyfriend which is great because she's super close to me! Linda is also the PERFECT model. Everyone knows I enjoy everything vintage so naturally my designs gravitate to the 1950's/60's genre. Lo and behold Linda is a spitting image of a gal living in Queens, NY in the 50's. She also bought two of my dresses on spot! This is one of the dresses from the shoot that I also just put up on etsy. Just wait until my post tomorrow...I'll tell you all about the hunk of a photographer who took these photos!

Elisabeth Orr is one of my greatest friends. She is always supportive of anything i venture into. She is also one of my two future roommates! Lucky for her she is a tad bit smaller than me. I made this dress on a wim. It's totally see through but when I saw fabric at Jo-Anns that I loved(which is rare), I had to buy it and try to work with it. I lined this fabric with the same fabric. I find out later that that's usually a no no and because of this no no the dress came out too small. What good came out of this? Well...not only did I learn my lesson but Liz got to have this dress AND not only did Liz get to have this dress but she rocked it. It really fits her perfectly and it's totally her style. She was a natural at the "shoot". Even ask the asians who were staring at us the whole time.

My etsy shop is up and running! Thanks to Pete once again you can link to it from my blog but just incase you cant this is it! I am super excited to start selling things! So far I've only sold 1 dress and 1 snood but hey, it's a start! These pics are one of the dresses that's for sale. Cute, right?! Alot of people have been putting this dress into their "favorites" or staring it as you can do on etsy, but not buying. I suggest you buy it! Thanks!
Laura took all these pictures on Sandy Hook at Fort Handcock. Fort Handcock is probably my favorite place in New Jersey(so far). It is on the tip on the hook and on a clear day you can see the Manhattan skyline perfectly. If youre ever in my great state of New Jersey, I'd check it out! And I'd also check at Laura's blog! Cheers!

This is my friend Pete. He is a really really good friend. In my tight knit group of girlfriends Pete is the only constant dude that hangs with us. He is the only one that can handle us. His nickname is reliable Pete. If I called him in five minutes and asked him if he wanted to drive to Florida I'm 99% sure he would. Among his great friendship he is also extremely talented. He builds things like bikes and ramps but he also builds websites! Thanks to Pete my blog is being glorified! He's helping me out sooo much and I am very greatful! If anyone needs someone to help them out designing websites or if anyone needs a good friend, email me and I will give you Pete's contact.
Another shout out goes to Laura Fordham. She has been taking photos of my stuff every chance we get and all that she wants from me is a beer. She is a great photographer and also a pretty great graphic designer. I am one lucky girl to have friends like these two!I hope everyone is enjoying the new look of the blog. I think it's pretty great!

I've been seeing this turban style hat/headband/head wraps everywhere lately. I feel like alot of them sold in Urban Outfitters and such are kinda abrasive. Just too showy/intense for my style. This one I tried to make is subtle yet still has the turban vibe to it. It also is a good alternative to those who don't like the bow on the headbands. You can wear this for warmth or just as an every day accessory. It is warm but not warm enough to sweat your tush off. What do you guys think!?

This is my dream dress. The color, the cut, the style, the intricate detail...it's amazing. And it's a million dollars. If I had $400 to blow it would be going to this peice of work. Does anyone else notice that Anthro's prices are raising daily!? wtf!

Its almost head band season! Last year I made about 100 hats and headbands in one winter! I posted one on facebook and they just kinda took off! This year Im going to put them on etsy so that anyone can purchase one. I'm selling them for $15 each and they are super cute! I did a few with flowers but to tell ya the truth...the bows are alot more fun! I can do custom orders...any color(s), and of course I can do with or with bow or flower. These are some of my favorite colors for this fall. Whacha think!?! Oh! And I forgot to post a link to Laura's blog. This is it!

Today I went to Stitch N Sew in Lakewood, NJ. It was about 40 minutes from my home in Red Bank but my sewing guru told me it would be worth it and it was! Since I started sewing about 5 months ago Ive only ever been to Jo-Anne Fabrics. Don't get me wrong Jo-Anne's is a nice local sewing shop but seriously...Stick N Sew had about 5 times the selection! It was heaven! I could get stuck in there for hours if I had the time. As soon as I walked in one of the women who worked there asked me if I needed help...she was super sweet. When I went to get my fabric cut there were 4 older women behind the counter. I wanted to take them all home with me for a sewing party. Old ladies are my favorite(no offense, gram). I know that alot of my readers are not from the glorious state of NJ, but if you're ever around check out this store! It was well worth the 40 minute trip.

I have been inlove with Peter Pan collars lately. I tried to create my own and it was pretty rough but definitely a good start! These are a few dresses that have really inspired me and Im going to try mimic them in my own way : )
Laura also took pictures today of a few items! Taking photos of my snoods in the 90 degree heat was not fun buuuuut they will be on etsy soon! Once I have a shop up and running I will link it on here. Stay cool!
