It's about time!

I finally purchased a beautiful Canon Rebel t2 and could not be more excited! I played with it all weekend and had some major help from good friend Adrienne Anghelone. She is super talented and knows heaps about photography. We went out in my town on Sunday afternoon to take some photos and have some fun! These are some photos of Adrienne and some of me with my new prized possession! So excited!

Ashole In My New Snood

Ashley Peter is a very talented and generous friend of mine. Whenever I work in the city I crash with her. I usually cook her dinner and she brings home a movie for us and we drink beers or in some cases skinny girl margheritas? Anyway she is always willing to let me sleep over and for a thank you I made her this new snood. It is almost identical to the one I purchased at J. Crew and lost at a silly bar in Philly. Ashley would steal the old one all the time so I decided to try and recreate it. I LOVE how it came out. My other snoods are thick knit and looped twice. This one you just throw on once and its a super thin knit which is beautiful but also takes a long long time to make. They are not on etsy yet so if anyone is interested holla atya girl. Fanks!

So this isnt my coolest reconstructed garment project but it's not too shabby. I bought this J. Crew dress at The Good Will in my town. It was $5. Im a J. Crew maniac so even if I see something at The Good Will that I dont like and is from J. Crew I'll probably buy regardless. Whatevs. I adored the color of this dress but it was a tiny bit big...ez pz. Here are the steps I took to reconstruct! ps(I am purchasing my new snazzy camera tomorrow....excuse the camera phone photos!)

My Sister's Crafty Side!

My sister and I are pretty much night and day. She is a stay at home mom with two beautiful babies that keep her busy around the clock. Her taste for home goods is impeccable (definitely taking after our dad). While she’s usually praising me for my crafts and creativity I noticed a crafty side to her too! She made this awesome fire place insert that looks like you could purchase it in Pier 1 or should be featured in Better Homes. Here are some easy steps on how to do it yourself thanks to my sister, Emily!
Step 1: Buy or build 3 tier candle holding unit
Step 2: March into your back yard and find festive looking logs(pictured white birch)
Step 3: Purchase/make candles in various heights ranging from votive to tall pillars.
Step 4: Cut logs using saw to make stands for some of the candles to further vary the heights and add some cool texture to the piece
Step 5: Let the piece of log dry out. This may take several days. If displaying immediately you may have mold grow (ew!)…but it can easily be wiped away
Step 6: Randomly display candles on log pieces arranged on the tiered stand
Step 7: Viola! Sit back and enjoy your new beautiful fire place insert.

Next Stop...

Hand bags! I really love making clothes and will continue making them in the spring/summer but I also want to start making a new accessory. I have a great big navy blue canvas tote from Jcrew that's getting super old so I decided to make one and then thought to make alot more and potentially sell them on my etsy. I bought this simple pattern and a bunch of thick canvas fabric as well as wooden bag handles. We'll see how they come out! Stay tuned!

Erin Gallagher!

The beautiful and talented Erin Gallagher is one of my greatest friends. She is an nyc ballerina and one of the funniest girls I've ever met. She is quite the character! I decided to take her our for a day of photos. She took some of me and I took some of her(i like hers better!). Check check check emmm outt.

Turn Around

Today was the pits. I traveled into the city for an hour just to turn around and come home. I am late with two dress orders and a snood order...so I head out to the yarn store which is an hour away and I get a flat tire. woomp woomp. They didnt even have my yarn! So I dragged Rex(my car) to Sears only for them to tell me I need new tires. All 4! First the $500 student loan payment this week and now this! Oy. It took alot to hold back a cry baby fb status(i hate when people do that) but I held it in! I was really looking forward to coming home and finishing my cookie dough iced cream in pjs while watching Felicity when I saw this lovely lady and it made me smile even more! It's so great when people wear my stuff especially when theyre as sweet as Keira. Thanks again to Keira! The hat looks wonderful on you!

The Green Mountain State!

My best friend Amy lives in Vermont. Although I've been begging her since she moved there to move home I really do appreciate going up there to visit. I go every chance I can get even though my fingers are crossed the whole time that Rex, my car, will make it. We love going to all the breweries, hiking, down hill mountain biking(we did it once and it was the greatest/scariest thing I've ever done), snowboarding, and just being around nature. For New Years Eve we decided to ditch NYC and head up to the Green Mountain State.

One of the reasons why I love my friends is because they support Seams To Be. They buy my hand made items and actually wear it! There wasn't a moment that went by that one of them wasn't wearing a Seams To Be original! Some great broads if you ask me! Here are some pics from the trip. Can you spot the crocheted items?!
